On the quest for the great sand up paddleboards I am pleased that we now have the full Jimmy Lewis range of SUP boards coming to Airhead. I am looking forward to get our first shipment in and pick my own board out.

On another note Jock Patterson, Oxbow area manager, UK longboarder and now one of the main driving forces in the UK Stand UP Paddle Boarding scene will be coming down to run through technique and put the Airhead team through its paces…. oh yes the fun starts here.

Stand up paddle boarding is one of the most exciting surf sports to hit the UK for a long time, in fact I can remember getting the same feeling about kitesurfing about 13 years ago.

SUP as it is also known is perfect for the south coast of England where good surf cannot be guaranteed but once you have got the hang of it you will be getting out in the big stuff ripping it up (maybe).

Airhead Board Sports is setting up a club for guys and girls looking to get into Paddle Boarding or just for anyone who wants to meet up with others who are into the sport, we will be having demo boards and a Paddle Board Clinic for folks who want to improve their technique. Watch this space, as I will be posting more info on the site as I get organised.

Today I met the crazy girls from Red Bull.

From out of the blue I get a phone call from a lively bubbly girl who seems to have been helping herself to the Red Bull, “Hey how do you fancy us dropping some Red Bull round for the Airhead Team??”, well anything to get the crew jumping around… so about an hour or so later sure enough two crazy young ladies turn up in the open topped Mini Red Bull car and drop off a load of the nectar for the team, just what we needed to pick up our afternoon……… thanks girls it really hit the spot and gave us the liven we needed.

The Red Bull car will be back with the Airhead Team over the summer to make sure we are all on top of the game… yep it sure does give you wings.

So Airhead team have been sitting round with the lack of wind and surf wondering what we can possibly do ??? Paddle Boarding !!!!

The Airhead Team is sure that this is going to be the next big challenge for any true waterman. Laird Hamilton has been a pioneer for all water sports, tow in big wave surfing, kite surfing, hydrofoil boarding and now we have been told he is getting more and more into the stand up paddle boarding.

Imagine being away from the busy surf breaks, the solitude of you and the Ocean, catching the waves that the other guys are finding hard to pick up or just going out for the workout and paddling for miles on your own when there is no swell. Paddle Boarding is set to be the next major water sport to hit the UK in a huge way.
