Naish SUP First Impressions: Airhead Surf Diary

At last we have got the much talked about stand up paddle board from Naish so we thought we would give you our first impressions as we took it out of the box.

Naish SUP deck

The look of the board is great, well-finished, nice wood effect deck. As with the Starboard range it has a carry handle which is a great bonus for getting to and from the water (I’m sure I have shrunk by 6″ carrying my board on my head at low tide) it also has a mast mount so it can double up for windsurfing.

Naish SUP base

The Naish SUP has a single fin slot and the tail of the board is narrow which will allow the board to turn well… the board also has a good rocker line to allow you to catch the wave nice and early.

Naish SUP Paddle

One of the hot points about this board is that it comes with a paddle…. ok its not a super light weight carbon one but it is the best budget I have seen… the Naish paddle has a ali shaft and a glass fibre tapered blade… one bit of advice on the paddle will be to get bike handlebar tape and cover the shaft and T grip to make it easier on your hands

Naish SUP Fin

One down side to this board is that there is no deck grip so it’s either going to need waxing or you will need to cover up that nice looking wood deck with deck grip but to be honest the paddle and board price allows for that so it swings and roundabouts.

Over all the board is everything you would expect from Naish and I know it will not disappoint the rider o the water… Thumbs up from the Airhead.

Naish do have a deck grip for their board…. it comes with the cool graphics so you can keep the look of the board without a problem.
