Britsh 1st Stand Up Surf Comp: Airhead Surf Diary

The first British Stand Up Paddle Surf competition was held at Watergate Bay in the 29th September 2007.

The event was well attended with top national and international riders turning up at the beach… they where greeted by 3 foot glassy surf and a near perfect conditions that could have been wished for. There where two events…. open surf and the endurance.

The Open Surf had 34 entrants split into Men’s and Ladies all hoping to make their way up the leader board to become the first UK Stand Up Paddle Surf winners….. with a fantastic atmosphere everybody’s best efforts there be one men’s and one ladies winner. (results at the end of this post)

    Great report Andy and thanks for the link back - I have posted the videos into the blog. There is talk of everyone meeting up this weekend at Hayling Island for a paddle (we could paddle over from West Wittering depending on tides ?) as Bill will be down for the kitesurfing comp.

    I will be at the kitesurf comp over the weekend so I am well up for it…

    I met up with Adriano from Indo Board today for a paddle at Witterings, did about four miles as it was fairly flat but managed to catch a couple of waves before we headed in. I have left the SOS big red with him as I am struggling for space at home with the shop closed for the refit and he said he enjoyed riding it.

    Let me know about the weekend as it sounds like fun… may even head over on Thursday
