AquaPac for the iPhone

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Let’s face it, there are times when having a phone with you on the water can pay dividends. Of course, with the advent of the iPhone 3G and its plethora of GPS tracking apps there’re now even more reasons to take your phone out with you: “Look, honest, I SUPed 40 miles in a day. No really, check out the Google Maps track!”.

Whether you’re planning an epic down-winder or just like to multi-task while waiting your turn in the lineup, a waterproof phone case can be a handy accessory for the connected water sports fanatic. Current offerings can be pretty costly, so it was a treat to find a solution promising a reasonable level of access to the iPhone’s functionality at a £20 price point.

Monday, June 29th, 2009

International Kite Surf Magazine, IKSURFMAG for short, has been around for a few years now, during that time it has become one of the most respected kitesurfing magazines on the planet. Read in over 160 countries worldwide the magazine has reached hundreds of thousands of kitesurfers around the globe.

Of course IKSURFMAG isn’t just any magazine, the team behind it pioneered digital publishing back in 2006 allowing the magazine to take on a wholly more interactive feel. The page flipping technology created a real buzz in the kitesurfing world and the ability to embed video right on the pages of the magazine got lots of kiters and industry folk excited.

The first magazine ever published went live in November 2006 and started out as just 32mb of information. These days with all the video content the magazine is huge by comparison with the last issue topping out at just over 860mb! Each issue is around 150 pages and the team try to cram as many stories, pictures and videos into that as possible.
